PFBB Investigator

December 27, 2014

Investigator - QuinnI hope all of you had a merry Christmas this year.

Here’s the next PF Beginner Box conversion: the Investigator.  Note that the Investigator uses Alchemist formulae, so technically an Alchemist can also use the new formulae presented in the Investigator’s spell list.

In the course of working on the hybrid class conversions, I’ve had occasion to review some of the previous conversions.  I’ve noticed a number of typos, errors and inconsistencies in that document.  So, once I’ve finished with the hybrid conversions, I intend to give the Consolidated Conversion document a second pass to correct those issues.

Happy New Years to you all.  Cheers.

Searchers of the Unknown Library

December 23, 2014

If you’re interested in ultra-minimalist RPGs, you may want to check out the Searchers of the Unknown Library blog.  Nicolas Dessaux wrote the original Searchers of the Unknown, and I think he’s the author of the blog as well.  It features various iterations and expansions for SotU (including a few I’ve written).

So, if you’re looking for a super easy one page RPG to run, you should check it out.   Cheers.

Revised PFBB Monster Template

December 4, 2014

I’ve worked up a new PFBB monster template that’s closer to the format used in the GMG.  It provides much more room for describing monster abilities, and even has a bit of room for a picture of the monster.  On the downside, it isn’t formatted to print on a 3×5 card, so it might be a little more inconvenient to use.  I’ve taken the liberty of making a few minor adjustments to the original BB format, which I trust make them a little easier to reference during play. Here’s the new template: pfbbnewmonstertemplate And here’s the Owlbear and Troll using the new template: PFBBowlbearandtroll A note about using artwork: so far as I know, you can’t just copy and paste art from the Bestiaries.  You can, however, use art from Paizo’s blog.  So, I recommend going to Paizo.com and doing a search of their blog for the type of monster you’re creating.  You just might find appropriate artwork.  The template already includes Paizo’s Community Use Policy after the OGL. Speaking of which, remember to update the OGL with the appropriate copyright notice for whichever Pathfinder or 3rd party sources you’re using. So, here’s the new files:

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.  Cheers.

Edit:  Corrected a couple of typos on the Owlbear and Troll (12/11/2014).

PFBB Structures

December 1, 2014

paizoimage Using the Ultimate Campaign Guide, I’ve worked out a handful of basic structures that PF Beginner Box characters may be interested in owning.  This includes GP cost to build the structure, time to build it and the benefit of the structure.  If a player wants to build something not shown here, just use whichever structure seems most appropriate for their purpose.

Note that the commercial structures assume some kind of staff to run them in the PC’s absence, and that monthly income is shown net of all expenses, including payroll for that staff.  Castles don’t generate income, but are assumed to have some other means of support (such as a small tax base) which helps them break even (just to keep things simple).

Let me know if you have any questions.  Cheers. PFBB Structures
